Balance All Areas of Life
To improve her weaknesses and work to her full potential, students are challenged to thrive in a supportive environment that emphasizes on a student's strengths. We create the necessary setting and provide our students with the skills they need to experience the highest level of academic success. A positive academic atmosphere is achieved through small, conventional classes. To promote a well balanced student we focus on the Mind, Body and Soul. Each area has an intentional focus to maximize their potential and to increase their confidence by placing students in State and National competition in all three areas.
Held Accountable
Troubled teens that are underachieving in the academic area due to their issues with deviancy, rebellion, low self-esteem, depression or anger management need that unique atmosphere with the personal attention to help them get back on track and develop strategies that lead to success. Students learn the necessary skills to prepare them for the future while they become confident & secure. For many troubled teens poor academic achievement - deteriorating grades in school - is caused by underlying emotional issues. It is our intentions to help each student earn the credits necessary to apply and be admitted into college or the vocation of her choice. Should a student choose not to participate to her full potential in school, she will be placed on academic probation, which restricts her privileges in leisure activities outside of school hours until the problem is corrected. Academic Probation is a supportive disciplinary tool used to help student how are falling behind in school. Any student that falls behind or drops below a 70% in any class is put on Academic Probation. While a student is on Academic Probation they have restricted privileges in the evenings allowing them extra time to completing missing assignments, extra credit, or redo poorly done work. The conditions of coming off Academic Probation are set in collaboration between the teacher and the student. This will teach students to put forth a true effort.
Students are given opportunities to take high school courses year-round, so they have the chance to improve their GPA as well as to take elective courses as they desire. Students attend school classes Monday through Friday according to the schedule established. 11th graders are encouraged to take several SAT/ACT test. All students take the California SAT to document the students academic level. An official transcript will be sent to specified schools following the students' duration at New Life Academy, which will contain grades, credit earned, and any standardized testing conducted to show the progress made within our school. Progress reports are sent home bi-weekly. |
